The Quarantine Cocktail I’m Living For Right Now

Who doesn’t love a good Lemon Drop Martini?

I’m a sucker for a drink that’s sweet, fruity, and tastes absolutely nothing like alcohol. After months of walking past my beautiful bar set every day, I finally decided it was time to put my tools to good use and try my hand at a homemade cocktail. How hard could it be, really?

Despite the fact that it took me way longer than it should have and the only martini glasses we have hold servings fit for a mouse, my attempt was pretty successful. After finding the perfect proportions, I just can’t get enough of this tempting Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini. And the best part? It has all fresh fruit ingredients! The lemons and the raspberries are freshly juiced for this recipe, and the simple syrup is homemade. The flavors are amazing and perfect for a summery treat– plus, when it’s quarantine, who needs to wait for 5 o’clock for happy hour? You make the rules now…

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Strainer
  • Muddler
  • Martini Glass

Ingredients

Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini

  • 1 ounce Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 ounce Triple Sec
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup Homemade
  • 1 ½ ounces Lemon Juice Freshly Squeezed
  • 15 Raspberries Muddled
  • 3 Ice Cubes

Sugar Rim

  • Sugar
  • Lemon Slice

Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

Make the Simple Syrup

  • If you already have simple syrup, skip this part.
Add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to a pot. Boil until all sugar is melted, then take off the stove and allow to cool. So easy!

Sugar Rim

  • Cut your lemons in half, cutting one slice out for the rim of the glass. Cut the slice in half, setting one half aside for decoration and using the other to run around the rim of the martini glass. Immediately dip the lemon-juice-coated martini glass rim in sugar to create your sugar rim. Set aside.

Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini

  • Using the rest of the lemons, squeeze as much juice out as you can (don't worry about the seeds and pulp-- we will take care of this). I used the juice from two lemons to get 1 ½ ounces, but this may vary.
  • Use a strainer to strain the lemon juice to get all of the seeds and pulp out. Set aside.
  • Grab 15 raspberries and muddle them as much as possible. Use a strainer to strain all the juice out, and set aside.
  • Add 1 ounce of vodka and 1 ounce of triple sec to your cocktail shaker. Measure out 1 ½ ounces of your strained lemon juice and add to the cocktail shaker. Add in the raspberry juice and 1 ounce of the cooled simple syrup. Finally, throw in some ice cubes, shake it up, and pour into the prepared glass. Add the half lemon slice to the rim for decoration, and you're ready to party! Enjoy 🙂

Notes

  • You can use any flavor of vodka you want (though I'm sure some wouldn't taste the best). I recommend vanilla or regular, but I've heard citrus is also great in this drink!
  • I don't have a lemon juicer, so I just used my muddler and hands to squeeze the juice out. There are many ways of getting around not having the "proper" tools for this cocktail!
  • Use as many or as few raspberries as you want-- this recipe is easily customizable! Keep in mind that raspberries aren't as juicy as other fruit and you may need more than you originally think you will.
  • You can always add in more vodka if you'd like-- my husband wanted more than this recipe calls for, but I thought it was just right.
  • If you don't have martini glasses, any glass will do. It's what's inside that counts!
  • You can make as much or as little simple syrup as you want-- it's just equal parts water and sugar.
