My Favorite Things: August 2020

1. GoGirl Planner

If there’s one thing in this world I love, it’s organization. I live by my planner and basically feel lost without it. And I love when the year is over and it comes time to buy a new, cooler planner. But this next year I won’t be searching for a better planner, because I think I found THE ONE. My GoGirl Planner is absolutely perfect for planning life goals, daily homework, and even tracking habits. It’s the perfect mix of short-term and long-term planning, and it even has a sticker page! (My favorite part if I’m being honest). It’s also the perfect size– big enough to fit all my daily tasks but small enough to fit in my purse. What more could a girl want??

2. Daily Yoga App

About 2 months ago I began doing yoga (almost) every morning as a way to start my day, motivate myself, and get a little exercise. I tried free trials of a lot of apps before committing to this one, and I love it! I only paid about $60 for a year of yoga, which is around $5 per month. There are so many options for yoga practices in this app: short 10-minute yoga, hour-long practices, pilates/work-out yoga, morning yoga, relaxing, stress relieving, motivating yoga. There are options for all moods, desires, goals, and abilities. My ritual yoga practice has been really life changing for me, and I think this app is a great option for people who want lots of variety.

3. CranioCradle

I get headaches. And by headaches, I mean pounding headaches that come frequently and stay for days. They’re excruciating and debilitating, and sometimes even cause me to throw up. Over the summer, I gave myself the opportunity to explore the causes of my headaches more so than I usually do (I often attribute it to dehydration), and I found that there are a multitude of other causes, one of which is neck/shoulder/back tension and pain. I tried out this CranioCradle for pain relief and I’m obsessed! It’s a little cradle for your head (as the name suggests), and it hits two specific pressure point spots on the back of the head. I’m not going to lie, it’s not the most comfortable experience while you’re using it, but this thing single-handedly reduces my headache pain immensely, even with only a few minutes of use. If you have tension in your head/neck and/or you get a lot of headaches, I highly recommend trying a CranioCradle!

4. Simple Micellar Water

Calling all lazy girls! I have been obsessed with my Simple Micellar Water for years now, and I still swear by it. I use this almost every night either to take off my makeup or to “wash” my face without actually having to wash it. It saves me so much time when I’m in a rush and it’s great for when I’m exhausted and don’t want to go through an entire skincare routine before bed. Plus, this product is really gentle and has never caused me to breakout (woohoo!).

5. Periwinkle & Green Alcohol Ink Artwork

My mom is an extremely talented alcohol ink artist, and she just recently started an Etsy shop for it! Each piece is handmade, unique, and totally custom, and they are all incredibly beautiful. I already have one piece in my dining room and one in my bedroom, and I still want to buy all of them. If you want/need some beautiful artwork or want a great gift idea, check out her Etsy store!

6. iBayam Fineliner Pens

If you think I’m a dork about planners, don’t even get me started on pens! I am SO picky about my pens– they have to be the perfect thickness, the perfect consistency, and the right feeling when I use them (is anyone else with me on this?!). I recently ordered this pack of 24 colored pens for the start of school and I love them!! They are fineliners so they have a really tiny tip and they write like a dream. I’m usually a sucker for gel pens only, but even though these are more marker consistency, I love them more than any other colored pens I’ve had in the past. I highly recommend these if you’re pen-obsessed like me!

7. Pinon Coffee House: Dark Pinon

Maybe you know me personally and know I can’t live without coffee, or maybe you’ve just gathered that from the name of my blog (subtle… right?). Because I’m an avid coffee drinker, I’ve tried so many different brands, strengths, and brews, and sadly, I have also become pretty picky about my coffee. There are only a few coffee brands in this world that I will buy, and my absolute favorite is Pinon Coffee. The flavor is so unique, plus what’s better than buying local?? I like to buy the 5 lb. bags, and I just went through my first bag of the Dark Pinon, which has actually replaced the original as my top favorite! I can’t even describe how good it is– you’ll have to try it for yourself!

8. Shampoo Brush

If I’m being honest, I don’t even know what exactly this thing is called, but it’s awesome! I saw this on Manes by Mell’s YouTube channel, and I immediately ordered one off Amazon. As a curly girl (and maybe other curly and non-curly girls alike will relate), I experience crazy buildup of product in my hair that’s almost impossible to get out, even with expensive, high-quality shampoos. Wash day is a struggle for me, and always requires 30+ minutes in the shower and ends with intense arm and shoulder cramping. This little shampoo brush has not only saved me major arm cramping, but has also saved me TIME, which, let’s be honest, we all need more of. It fits in your hand perfectly and you just use it to scrub your head while you have shampoo in. So far, it’s been really helpful in getting rid of product buildup at my roots (hi more voluminous hair!).
