On Healing
Healing is so hard.
Because you think you’re doing better and then suddenly something sends you right back to that place.
It’s a memory, a dream, a song, a smell.
It’s a night out with friends.
It’s someone at the bar calling you “pretty.”
It’s waiting for a text back– a reminder of what it’s like to feel so vulnerable, so fragile.
It’s watching a movie by yourself that you didn’t used to watch by yourself.
It’s cooking a meal.
It’s going to a coffee shop, decorating your apartment, waking up on a Saturday.
It’s any semblance of change, good or bad, and it sends you right back, unexpectedly and forcefully.
And I just want to know…
Does it ever end?
